OVERVIEW

For the launch of Kenco Millicano, I worked with the elvis motion team to create a CGI-led social campaign across multiple formats, alongside a dedicated DOOH execution. The key challenge was recreating the distinctive coffee beans from the packaging in 3D, building them from scratch through modelling, sculpting, texturing, lighting and dynamic simulation to create a seamless transition between CGI and the product artwork.

The Challenge

The concept required the 3D coffee beans to come together before seamlessly transitioning into the beans illustrated on the Kenco packaging. With no existing 3D models that closely matched the artwork, we needed to model and texture the beans from scratch to achieve a convincing visual match.

CGI Coffee Beans

The biggest technical challenge was the Voronoi fracture, x-particles, and dynamic simulation. Gravity, collision, distance, fracture count and timing all had to work together to create the right movement, requiring extensive testing and refinement across the simulation, lighting and texturing.
